*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Tuusula, or Tuusulanjärvi, which borders the city of Järvenpää in Uusimaa, is a vital natural feature, despite being shallow and historically prone to eutrophication. Swimming is permitted in the lake, particularly at designated public beaches within Järvenpää, following Finland’s Everyman’s Rights. These rights allow public access to natural waters for recreational use. Local municipalities actively monitor the lake’s water quality, including checking for bacterial levels and blue-green algae, especially during the summer months, to ensure the designated swimming areas are safe and hygienic for bathers.
The lake’s shallow depth (average around 3.2 m) allows its surface water to heat up rapidly in the summer. During the main swimming season, typically in July, surface water temperatures in the nearshore areas often range from 20∘C to 24∘C, sometimes reaching as high as 28∘C in intense heatwaves. In contrast, the lake is reliably ice-covered for at least four months, generally from December to April, when the water temperature beneath the ice remains near freezing, around 0∘C to 4∘C. Outside of the warm summer window, the water is too cold for general swimming, though the lake is a popular location for traditional winter swimming groups.
