Konjic is situated in the upper, canyon section of the Neretva River in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a river famously recognized as one of the coldest in the world due to its high altitude source and glacial origins. Consequently, the water temperature in the Konjic area remains extremely low throughout the year. In winter, the river is close to freezing, typically maintaining temperatures between 4∘C and 6∘C. Even during the height of summer (July and August), the water rarely warms up significantly, usually hovering between 7∘C and 10∘C.
Swimming in the Neretva River at Konjic is technically allowed but is severely limited by the extreme cold.
