Location & Local Information
Travnik, located in central Bosnia and Herzegovina, lies along the Lašva River, which flows gently through the valley beneath the Vlašić Mountain. The river has a mountain origin, so its water stays relatively cool throughout the year. In winter, the temperature usually ranges between 2 and 5°C, while in spring it rises to around 10–13°C as the snow from Vlašić begins to melt. During the summer months, particularly in July and August, the Lašva warms to about 18–22°C in calmer areas. In autumn, it gradually cools again to around 10–15°C.
Swimming in the Lašva River near Travnik is possible but not very common. The water is clean and refreshing in its upper sections, though its temperature remains relatively low, making it more suitable for short dips rather than long swimming. Locals sometimes bathe or cool off in quieter parts of the river during hot summer days. However, because the Lašva flows through populated areas, swimming is safer and more enjoyable in cleaner upstream spots closer to nature.
