*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Ilidža, a Sarajevo municipality, is located near the source of the Bosna River, but the much smaller Miljacka River also flows through the area. The Miljacka is generally characterized by very cold water throughout the year, especially close to its source, where temperatures can be as low as 5∘C. Throughout the Sarajevo area, including Ilidža, the water temperature rarely exceeds 10∘C even during summer, due to its low discharge and the influence of cold springs. Winter temperatures are often near freezing.
Swimming in the Miljacka River near Ilidža is generally not practiced and is not recommended. The main reasons are the consistently low water temperature, which poses a risk of hypothermia, as well as occasional issues with water quality and the shallow nature of the regulated riverbed in many sections. Historically, the river has been known for pollution concerns in the urban areas of Sarajevo, and in some parts, it can even dry up in summer. For water recreation, the Ilidža area is famous for its thermal spas, which offer consistently warm water for bathing and therapy.
