The Bosna River flows through the city of Zenica, and as a major river in a temperate continental climate, its water temperature changes considerably throughout the year. In the colder months (December to February), the river's temperature drops significantly, often ranging between 4∘C and 8∘C, sometimes allowing ice formation in slower sections. During the summer heat, the surface water warms up, typically reaching temperatures between 18∘C and 22∘C in July and August, which is a cool but tolerable range for swimming.
Swimming in the Bosna River in the Zenica area is generally discouraged and often unsafe due to historical and ongoing water quality issues stemming from urban wastewater and previous industrial activity.
