Water Temperature Trends
Antalya Province, located on Turkey's Mediterranean coast, is renowned for its warm and inviting waters, which attract tourists year-round. During the winter months, from December to February, the sea temperature remains relatively mild compared to other regions of Turkey. In these months, the Mediterranean waters around Antalya average around 16°C to 18°C (61°F to 64°F). Although it's too chilly for swimming for many, the weather is still favorable for sightseeing and other outdoor activities.
As spring approaches, from March to May, the water temperature begins to rise. By April, the Mediterranean Sea reaches around 18°C to 20°C (64°F to 68°F), providing a more comfortable environment for swimmers. By May, the sea temperature warms further to 21°C to 23°C (70°F to 73°F), making it an ideal time for beachgoers to enjoy the water without feeling too cold. Spring also brings warmer air temperatures, contributing to the overall pleasant atmosphere.
The summer months, from June to September, are when the waters of Antalya reach their peak temperatures, attracting thousands of tourists. During this time, the sea temperature can rise to 26°C to 28°C (79°F to 82°F), providing perfect conditions for swimming, water sports, and relaxation by the beach. The warm waters of the Mediterranean remain at their peak throughout the summer, and even into the early autumn months, the temperature stays pleasant at around 25°C to 27°C (77°F to 81°F), ensuring that visitors can enjoy the beautiful coastal waters for an extended period.
