The Manavgat River (Manavgat Nehri) in Antalya originates from karst springs and flows into the Mediterranean, and its water temperature varies seasonally. In winter months it typically cools to around 10–14 °C (50–57 °F). During spring temperatures commonly rise to roughly 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) as snowmelt and warmer air increase flow. Summer brings the warmest conditions, with surface temperatures often between 20–27 °C (68–81 °F) in calmer stretches, while autumn usually sees a gradual decline to about 16–22 °C (61–72 °F). Local factors such as spring-fed inputs, shading, weather patterns and occasional dam releases can influence these figures and produce colder pockets even in summer.
Swimming is possible in many parts of the Manavgat River, particularly in quieter, shallow sections and near the river mouth where currents are weaker; many visitors enjoy cooling off there when temperatures are high. However, swimming is not universally permitted or safe along the whole course because of variable currents, submerged hazards, boat traffic and protected or managed areas around the waterfall and reservoirs.
