** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years

*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast

Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.

Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Tanaro (Italian: Tànaro) flows across Piedmont from its Alpine and pre-Alpine sources into the Po; its water temperature varies with season and local conditions. In winter the river is cold, typically around 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), while spring temperatures commonly rise to roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) as snowmelt and rain increase flow. In summer quieter stretches can warm to about 18–26 °C (64–79 °F) on average, though shallow, slow-moving reaches may be warmer on hot days. During autumn temperatures usually fall back to roughly 10–16 °C (50–61 °F) as rains cool the basin and flows increase.

Swimming does occur in parts of the Tanaro, particularly in calmer, shallow bends and locally managed bathing spots in summer, but it is not uniformly regulated as a municipal beach. Whether swimming is allowed depends on local ordinances, water quality monitoring and river conditions: after heavy rain the Tanaro can become fast and turbid, increasing danger from currents and submerged debris, and agricultural or urban runoff can temporarily lower water quality. For safety and legal reasons it is advisable to follow signage, check local health and civil protection notices, and avoid swimming during high flow or pollution advisories.
