*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Alba itself is an inland town on the Tanaro River rather than beside a lake, so if you’re looking for swimming inside the municipal area you’ll mostly encounter river conditions. Water temperatures in the Tanaro fluctuate with the seasons: in winter surface temperatures are typically around 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), spring sees roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F), summer can warm to about 18–24 °C (64–75 °F), and autumn usually cools to 10–16 °C (50–61 °F). Swimming in the Tanaro is often not recommended because of changing currents, occasional high flows after rain, and variable water quality; some local stretches may be legally restricted for bathing for safety reasons.
For open-water swimming near Alba, many people travel to nearby sub‑Alpine and pre-Alpine lakes where conditions differ. Small, shallow lakes and popular resort beaches typically reach about 20–25 °C (68–77 °F) in the warmest months, while deeper or higher-altitude lakes remain cooler, often 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) in summer and much colder outside that period. Swimming is generally permitted at designated beaches and lidos, where lifeguards and water-quality monitoring are common, but rules vary so checking local signage and advisories before entering the water is advisable.
