** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Asti is an inland town in Piedmont without a large natural lake within its immediate surroundings; the local landscape is instead defined by rivers such as the Tanaro and small artificial basins. For lake swimming, people from Asti typically travel to nearby Piedmont lakes—for example Lake Maggiore, Lake Orta or the shallower Lake Viverone—where surface water temperatures show clear seasonal patterns. In winter lake surfaces commonly hover around 0–6 °C (32–43 °F), spring and autumn are roughly 8–15 °C (46–59 °F), and summer brings the warmest conditions, about 18–26 °C (64–79 °F). Shallower, sheltered lakes and bays (like Viverone on warm summers) can edge toward the upper end of that range, while deeper, larger basins (such as parts of Maggiore) often remain cooler.
Swimming is allowed at designated beaches and lidos on these lakes when local authorities permit bathing; lifeguarded and monitored sites are open mainly in late spring through summer, depending on weather and water quality. Swimming in the Tanaro near Asti is generally not recommended because of variable currents and occasional water-quality issues; instead residents often use managed municipal pools or travel to certified lake bathing areas. Water temperature and official monitoring determine comfort and safety, and wetsuits are commonly used when temperatures are below about 20 °C (68 °F).
