** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Dora Baltea, the main river running through Italy’s Aosta Valley, is fed largely by snowmelt and glacial runoff, so its water stays comparatively cold year-round. Typical seasonal surface temperatures range from near freezing in winter—about 0–4 °C (32–39 °F)—to spring values around 4–10 °C (39–50 °F) as thawing increases flow. In the warmest weeks of summer some protected, slow-moving stretches can reach roughly 10–18 °C (50–64 °F), with the highest readings occurring in late summer and in shallow side channels; by autumn temperatures fall back toward 6–12 °C (43–54 °F). Local variations are common: shallow, sunlit pools warm more than fast, deeper channels, and nearby hydroelectric releases or sudden storms can quickly change conditions.
Swimming is possible in many stretches of the Dora Baltea, and some towns and natural beaches see recreational use, but it is not uniformly safe or officially supervised. The river’s cold temperature, strong currents, and rapidly changing flows present hypothermia and drowning risks, so many people prefer designated bathing areas, monitored river beaches, or calmer side arms. Organized activities such as rafting and canyoning are popular and usually run with professional guides and safety gear; always check local signage and conditions before entering the water.
