** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Sesia is an Alpine river in Piedmont whose water temperature varies strongly with altitude, season and localized flows. In winter the river is cold, often ranging around 0–6 °C (32–43 °F) in many stretches, while spring temperatures are typically 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) as snowmelt keeps flows chilly. In summer the lower reaches can warm to roughly 14–22 °C (57–72 °F) on hot, low-flow days, though upstream and shaded sections remain noticeably cooler. Autumn sees a progressive drop, commonly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F). These figures are approximate averages: temperatures rise downstream and on slow, sun-exposed stretches and remain lower near the source and after rainfall or dam releases.
Swimming is permitted in much of the Sesia and the river is used recreationally for bathing, but it is not uniformly safe everywhere. Strong currents, rapid depth changes, submerged rocks and occasional sudden increases in flow from hydropower operations create hazards; cold water can also cause hypothermia even in summer. Local regulations, signage and seasonal monitoring determine permitted spots, and lifeguards are generally absent. For casual swimmers, summer in lower, calmer sections is the most comfortable option; more caution, flotation aids or a wetsuit are advisable, and in winter or during high spring runoff swimming should be avoided.
