** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Smotrych River is a left tributary of the Dniester, flowing through Podillia in western Ukraine. It is relatively narrow—usually 10–15 meters wide, though it can expand to over 40 meters in places—and it winds through deeply eroded ravines, which often cast considerable shade over the water. Because of that, the river’s water tends to stay cooler than in wide open rivers. In summer, shallow, sunlit bends might warm up to 21–24 °C, but in deeper pools, shaded stretches or where the current is stronger, the temperature is probably closer to 17–20 °C. Early in the season (late spring / early summer) the water is noticeably colder, making longer swims uncomfortable.
Swimming in the Smotrych is possible, particularly in gentle bends and slow-flowing sections with easy bank access. Locals might choose calmer stretches near the edges of the canyon or near smaller side channels to bathe or cool off. However, one must be careful: the river’s canyon morphology means there are often steep banks, sudden depth changes, submerged rocks, and variable current. After rains, water clarity can suffer and flow may intensify, increasing risk. Therefore, for safer swimming, pick familiar spots where the bottom is known, stay close to shore, and avoid deeper, rapidly flowing parts.
