** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Pedeli is a modest river in Latvia whose water temperatures follow the country’s temperate seasonal cycle. In winter the river commonly approaches freezing, often around 0–2 °C (32–36 °F) beneath or beside ice cover. Spring thaw raises temperatures to roughly 2–10 °C (36–50 °F) as snowmelt and rainfall flow through the catchment. Peak warmth occurs in summer, when shallow stretches can reach about 15–22 °C (59–72 °F) on warm days, though shaded or deeper pools remain cooler. In autumn the river cools again to roughly 5–12 °C (41–54 °F) as air temperatures fall and daylight shortens. These ranges vary with weather, river depth, flow and the specific location along the course.
Swimming in the Pedeli is possible in summer when water temperatures are most comfortable, but formal bathing areas and lifeguard supervision are uncommon on smaller rural rivers. Local authorities may not designate the Pedeli as an official beach, so water quality, currents, underwater obstacles and variable depths should be considered before entering. After heavy rain runoff can reduce water quality and increase flow, making swimming unsafe. Winter swimming is hazardous except at organized ice-swimming sites with safety measures; otherwise cold-water shock and thin ice are serious risks. As always, check local guidance and exercise caution.
