** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Pedja River (Estonian: Pedja jõgi) is a lowland river whose water temperature varies considerably through the year. In winter the river commonly approaches freezing and may sit around 0–2 °C (32–36 °F) where it is open or under thin ice; during spring thaw temperatures typically range from about 2–8 °C (36–46 °F) as cold runoff and higher flows dominate. In summer the shallows and slow stretches can warm to roughly 16–22 °C (61–72 °F), occasionally reaching the mid-20s °C (mid-70s °F) in heat spells, while autumn sees a steady cooling with temperatures often between 8–14 °C (46–57 °F). Local conditions such as depth, shading, flow rate and recent weather make spot-to-spot differences important.
Swimming in the Pedja is generally possible and not legally prohibited in most places, but opportunities depend on safety and water quality rather than formal facilities. In summer many people swim where access is easy and the current is gentle, but caution is advised after heavy rain or during high flow when currents and turbidity increase and contamination risk is higher. There are few lifeguarded sites on the river, and vegetation, underwater obstacles and private riverbanks can limit safe access. Cold-season or ice swimming carries hypothermia and ice-break hazards and should only be undertaken with appropriate precautions and local knowledge.
