* Current - Actual water temperature value
** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Maritsa (Марица) is a large Balkan river with water temperatures that change noticeably through the year. In winter the river commonly drops close to freezing in exposed sections, roughly 0–8 °C (32–46 °F), while spring brings a steady rise as snowmelt and rain push temperatures into the mid range of about 6–16 °C (43–61 °F). By summer, shallow and slow-moving stretches can warm to comfortable levels, commonly around 18–26 °C (64–79 °F), though deeper or faster-flowing reaches remain cooler. Autumn sees a gradual decline, with typical values in many places between 10–18 °C (50–64 °F). Local conditions — depth, flow, shaded canyons, reservoirs and recent weather — all strongly influence the actual temperature at a given spot.
Swimming in the Maritsa is physically possible in many calmer backwaters and reservoir sections, especially in warm summer months when temperatures are comfortable, but it is not universally recommended. Water quality varies along the river’s course because of agricultural runoff, urban and industrial discharges, and sediment, and some stretches have strong currents, variable depths and underwater hazards. Official designated bathing beaches are uncommon on the main channel, and safety concerns such as lack of lifeguards and boat traffic mean swimmers should choose monitored or well-known local spots, check recent water-quality information and heed local rules and warnings.
