** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Iskar (Искър) is Bulgaria’s longest river and its water temperature varies widely with location and season. In winter the surface water in many stretches can fall to about 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), while spring temperatures typically rise from roughly 5–12 °C (41–54 °F) as snowmelt and rainfall feed the river. In summer the lower valley and reservoir sections warm most, often reaching about 18–25 °C (64–77 °F) on sunny days, whereas mountain reaches and fast-flowing riffles usually remain cooler, around 12–18 °C (54–64 °F). In autumn the river cools again to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F) before winter lows return.
Swimming in the Iskar is commonly done in warm months in calmer reaches and in some reservoirs, but it is not uniformly permitted or safe everywhere. Restrictions can apply near reservoirs used for drinking water, and local authorities may ban bathing in protected or polluted stretches. Even where swimming is allowed, hazards such as strong currents, sudden depth changes, submerged obstacles, boat traffic and variable water quality make caution essential. Visitors should observe local signage, follow municipal rules and assess conditions before entering the water, choosing sheltered, monitored spots when available.
