** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

The Vacha River (Въча) in the Rhodope region of Bulgaria is a mountain-fed and reservoir-regulated watercourse with relatively cool temperatures year-round. Typical seasonal water temperatures range from about 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) in winter, rising to roughly 5–12 °C (41–54 °F) in spring during snowmelt, and reaching around 15–22 °C (59–72 °F) in the warmest parts of summer. In sheltered bays of the Vacha reservoirs the surface can occasionally warm to the low 20s °C (around 68–77 °F) on hot days. In autumn the river generally cools to roughly 8–14 °C (46–57 °F) as air temperatures fall and flows increase.
Swimming in the Vacha is possible in some stretches and reservoir shorelines, but it is condition-dependent and not uniformly recommended. Access is often allowed in open areas, but swimming is prohibited or dangerous close to dams, spillways, intake structures and in strong currents because of sudden water releases and variable depths. The cool temperatures, even in summer, increase the risk of cold shock and cramps, so swimmers should exercise caution, avoid lone swimming, and heed local signage and authorities. Local facilities and safety measures vary, so always check current conditions before entering the water.
