** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Yusufeli Reservoir, formed by the Yusufeli Dam on the Çoruh River in Artvin province, is a mountain-fed body of water with characteristically cool temperatures. Seasonal surface temperatures vary considerably: in winter the water can approach near-freezing conditions, roughly 0–4 °C (32–39 °F); in spring, with snowmelt and cold inflows, temperatures commonly range from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F); by summer the warmest surface readings are typically in the region of 12–20 °C (54–68 °F), though deeper water remains colder; and in autumn temperatures decline again toward roughly 8–12 °C (46–54 °F) as the region cools. These ranges reflect the reservoir’s high-elevation, alpine-fed character and the influence of seasonal snowmelt and river inflows.
Swimming at the Yusufeli Reservoir is generally discouraged rather than promoted. Reasons include persistently low water temperatures that increase the risk of cold-water shock and hypothermia, operational hazards associated with dam and hydroelectric activity such as sudden level changes and currents, and submerged structures and steep, uneven shorelines that pose safety risks. While locals may occasionally enter calmer inlets during warm weather, there are no widely advertised organized bathing facilities, and visitors should treat the area as potentially hazardous and check local regulations or guidance before attempting to swim.
