*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Çıldır (Çıldır Gölü) in Ardahan sits at high elevation and shows marked seasonal changes in water temperature. In winter months (December–February) the surface is typically frozen and water underneath is close to 0 °C (32 °F). During spring (March–May) melting brings surface temperatures generally in the range of about 1–8 °C (34–46 °F). In summer (June–August) the warmest period, surface temperatures can rise to roughly 15–22 °C (59–72 °F), while autumn (September–November) sees a steady decline toward about 5–10 °C (41–50 °F). Because of the lake’s altitude and continental climate, even summer water remains relatively cool compared with lowland lakes.
Swimming is seasonally possible but limited by safety and facilities. Open-water swimming is generally feasible only in the warmer summer months when surface temperatures approach the mid-teens to low twenties Celsius; however, there are few formal beaches, lifeguards, or rescue services around Çıldır, so swimmers should exercise caution. In winter the frozen surface makes swimming impossible and instead attracts activities like ice-walking and ice fishing. Overall, while not officially prohibited, swimming at Çıldır Gölü is practical only during short, warmer periods and carries risks related to cold water, sudden weather changes, and remoteness.
