*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Tortum Lake (Tortum Gölü) lies in the high plateau of Erzurum and behaves more like a cold mountain reservoir than a warm bathing lake. Seasonal surface temperatures are relatively low: in winter the lake can approach freezing, typically around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F); spring sees a gradual rise to roughly 4–10 °C (39–50 °F); summer brings the warmest conditions, often between about 12–18 °C (54–64 °F); and autumn cools back to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F). These ranges can vary with weather, inflows from snowmelt, wind and depth, and deeper layers remain substantially colder year-round.
Swimming is possible in parts of Tortum Lake but is limited by temperature and safety considerations. Because the water stays quite cold even in summer, immersion carries a risk of cold shock and rapid hypothermia, so swimming is uncommon for prolonged recreation; short dips by acclimatized visitors occur during warm spells. The lake is also influenced by dam operations and strong currents near inlets, outlets and intake structures, so local restrictions or warning signs may prohibit access in certain zones. Visitors should follow local guidance, avoid swimming near infrastructure, and be prepared for low temperatures if they choose to enter the water.
