** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Fırtına Deresi in Rize is a mountain-fed Black Sea stream whose water temperature stays relatively cool year-round because of snowmelt, frequent rainfall and dense forest shading. Typical seasonal surface temperatures vary roughly from about 4–8 °C (39–46 °F) in winter to 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) in spring, rising to approximately 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) in summer, and dropping again to around 8–14 °C (46–57 °F) in autumn. These values can fluctuate locally depending on altitude, depth, and recent weather: shallow, sun-exposed pools warm more in summer, while deeper or faster-flowing stretches stay much colder.
Swimming is sometimes possible in sheltered, slow-moving pools during the warmest summer weeks when temperatures approach the higher end of the range, but it is not universally recommended. Many parts of the river are used for rafting and have strong currents, submerged rocks and the potential for rapid water-level changes after rain, and the generally low temperatures increase the risk of cold shock. Local rules, access limitations and conservation concerns also affect where recreational swimming is appropriate. For those considering entering the water, choosing calm, accessible spots and following local guidance reduces risk, but the river’s character means it is more commonly enjoyed from the banks or by organized water-sport operators than as a regular swimming destination.
