** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Aygır Lake (Aygır Gölü) sits in the high-elevation, continental climate of Kars, so its water remains relatively cold year-round. Typical seasonal surface temperatures are roughly below 0 °C (32 °F) in winter when ice cover is common; in spring they generally range from about 1–8 °C (34–46 °F) as meltwater cools the basin; summer brings the warmest surface readings, often around 10–18 °C (50–64 °F) on sunny days but usually much cooler at depth; and autumn sees a steady decline to roughly 5–10 °C (41–50 °F) before freezing resumes. These figures are approximate and fluctuate with weather, altitude, and local inflows, but they illustrate that even in summer the lake is cool compared with lowland recreational waters.
Swimming at Aygır Lake is not a widespread or strongly encouraged activity. There are few developed bathing facilities, lifeguards, or organized safety services on site, and the persistently low temperatures create a significant risk of cold-water shock and hypothermia. Local rules or land management policies may also restrict access in parts or during certain seasons. As a result, while brief dips by experienced, well-prepared individuals are possible in summer, routine recreational swimming is generally uncommon and often inadvisable without proper precautions and local confirmation.
