** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Yngern is a freshwater lake in Stockholm County whose surface temperatures follow the typical seasonal pattern of southern Swedish lakes. In winter the water is near or below freezing and the lake is often ice-covered, around 0 °C (32 °F) or lower. During spring, as ice melts and warming begins, surface temperatures commonly range from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F). Peak summer conditions usually bring the warmest water in late July and early August, with typical surface temperatures of roughly 18–23 °C (64–73 °F) and shallow bays occasionally reaching about 25 °C (77 °F) in heatwaves. In autumn the lake cools again, with temperatures generally falling to about 5–12 °C (41–54 °F). Local factors such as depth, wind, and sunlight can produce variations between sheltered bays and open water.
Swimming in Yngern is generally permitted under Sweden’s Allemansrätten (the right of public access), and many people use informal bathing spots and designated municipal beaches when available. However, swimming should be undertaken with attention to safety and local guidance: some shorelines are private, water quality can vary and occasional algal blooms may lead authorities to advise against bathing, and early/late season or winter conditions present hypothermia and ice-safety risks. Observing posted signs, checking recent water-quality information, and using appropriate precautions will help ensure a safe swimming experience.
