Vallsjön, as it is called in Swedish, is a typical inland lake in Jönköping County with seasonal surface temperatures that reflect the temperate Swedish climate. In summer (June–August) the water commonly warms to about 18–23 °C (64–73 °F) and can reach around 24–25 °C (75–77 °F) during prolonged heat. In spring (April–May) temperatures are lower, commonly in the 4–12 °C range (39–54 °F) as the lake sheds ice and cools, while early autumn (September) often sees 8–15 °C (46–59 °F) before falling back toward near‑freezing conditions in late autumn and winter. During winter months the surface is frequently close to 0 °C (32 °F) and the lake may be ice‑covered for periods.
