** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The lake of Hindsen (Swedish: Hindsen) in Jönköping County typically follows the seasonal temperature patterns common to small inland Swedish lakes. In spring (March–May) surface temperatures commonly rise from around 2–12 °C (36–54 °F) as ice melts and air warms. In summer (June–August) the water often warms to roughly 15–25 °C (59–77 °F), with the warmest afternoons in shallow bays sometimes reaching the upper end of that range during hot spells. During autumn (September–November) temperatures fall back toward 5–15 °C (41–59 °F) as cooling and turnover occur, while in winter (December–February) the lake may approach 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) where open water exists or freeze over entirely in cold years.
Swimming at Hindsen is generally possible and commonly practised when conditions permit, since public access to shorelines in Sweden is broad and there are no special prohibitions for normal bathing in many lakes. Practical considerations determine suitability: water quality, depth, underwater hazards, weather and ice cover. Local signs or private property boundaries can restrict access, and municipal or regional testing may advise against swimming after heavy rains or pollution events. For safe enjoyment, check local water-quality information, use marked beaches or piers if available, and be cautious about sudden depth changes and cold-water shock outside the warmest months.
