Ullswater’s water is typically cold year-round. Surface temperatures in summer usually range from about 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) on warmer days, while spring and autumn generally see 6–12 °C (43–54 °F). In winter temperatures can fall to around 2–6 °C (36–43 °F). Swimming in Ullswater is allowed in many places because it is a public lake, but there are no widespread lifeguards and conditions can be changeable.
