Sniježnica Lake (Jezero Sniježnica) is an artificial reservoir located near the municipality of Kalesija in northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, formed for local economic purposes. Being situated in a valley, the lake's temperature fluctuates strongly with the local continental climate. In the winter, the water is predictably cold, with temperatures often dropping to the range of 4∘C to 8∘C, often resulting in a partially or fully frozen surface. During the peak summer period, the shallower sections of the lake heat up considerably, allowing surface temperatures to reach a pleasant range of 22∘C to 25∘C in July and August.
Swimming in Sniježnica Lake is a common and accepted recreational activity during the warm summer months, especially in areas with gentle access to the water.
