*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Rusutjärvi is a lake in the Uusimaa region, known for its small size and use as a local swimming spot, particularly in Järvenpää. Swimming is generally permitted along the lake’s accessible shores and at any designated public beaches, a right secured by Finland's Everyman’s Rights. This principle ensures the public’s freedom to access and use natural water bodies for recreational purposes. Local municipalities monitor the water quality at official bathing sites during the summer, checking for bacteria and blue-green algae, which is crucial for a small, relatively shallow lake like Rusutjärvi to maintain safe swimming conditions.
As a smaller, shallower body of water, Rusutjärvi’s temperature is highly susceptible to weather changes. During the winter season, typically from December to April, the lake reliably develops an ice cover, with the water temperature beneath the ice staying near its maximum density, ranging from 0∘C to 4∘C. The most comfortable season for swimming is short, peaking in July. During this mid-summer period, surface water temperatures in the shallow nearshore areas can frequently reach between 20∘C and 25∘C, sometimes climbing higher during hot spells, which is characteristic of smaller lakes in Southern Finland. Outside of these warm summer months, the water is too cold for casual bathing.
