*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Gallträsk is a small, shallow lake in Kauniainen, Uusimaa, known for being one of the more readily accessible urban natural areas. Swimming is freely allowed along its shores and at the public beach, a right established by Finland's Everyman’s Rights. Due to its accessibility and location near residential areas, it is a popular local spot for bathing and recreation. As a shallow lake, its water quality is often actively monitored by local authorities, especially for any signs of blue-green algae, to ensure safe and hygienic conditions for the public during the official swimming season.
The shallow nature of Gallträsk means its water temperature is highly responsive to air temperature, heating up quickly in the summer and cooling rapidly in the autumn. During the winter, typically from December to April, the lake freezes over completely, and water temperatures beneath the ice remain near freezing, generally ranging between 0∘C and 4∘C. The most comfortable period for swimming is brief, peaking in July. During this mid-summer month, surface temperatures in the shallow basin can often range from 20∘C to 24∘C, sometimes climbing higher during heatwaves, which is warmer than many deeper lakes. Outside of the summer peak, the water is too cold for casual bathers.
