** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Narva Reservoir (Estonian: Narva veehoidla) is a large, shallow reservoir on the Narva River at the Estonia–Russia border. Seasonal surface temperatures vary considerably: after ice melt in spring water is typically around 1–10 °C (34–50 °F), in summer it commonly warms to about 15–25 °C (59–77 °F) in shallower bays while deeper or flowing sections can remain cooler, and in autumn temperatures usually fall to roughly 5–15 °C (41–59 °F). In winter the surface is often frozen and the water beneath the ice stays close to 0–4 °C (32–39 °F). Local weather, wind and water flow from upstream Lake Peipus strongly influence these ranges, so actual readings at particular spots can differ day to day.
Swimming in the Narva Reservoir is possible and is practised at calmer shoreline areas and informal beaches during warm months, but it is subject to practical and legal limits. Some stretches are close to the international border or to hydroelectric installations and shipping channels where access is restricted and currents or sudden level changes make swimming unsafe. Water quality and seasonal cold-water risk should be considered: even in summer, deeper water or swift areas can be substantially colder. Observing local signage, choosing designated swimming sites and taking standard safety precautions is advisable.
