Location & Local Information
Miske Ozero, also known historically as “Stanislavske More,” is a large artificial lake in the southwestern part of Ivano-Frankivsk, covering roughly 32.8 hectares with a maximum depth up to about 4 m (average depth smaller). Because of its size and relatively shallow depth in many parts, during hot summer days the surface water could warm up to around 22–25 °C in areas exposed to sunlight and with less mixing. However, in deeper sections or under wind mixing, temperatures will remain lower, perhaps in the 18–20 °C range. Early in summer or during cloudy periods, the water is likely too chilly for comfortable long swims.
As for swimming, the situation is somewhat ambiguous. The lake is a favored recreational zone in the city — it has promenades, boating infrastructure, and aesthetic appeal. Yet according to local fishing sources, swimming is officially forbidden in the lake. That said, in practice some residents might still wade or cool off near the shore, especially in calm shallow spots. But for safe, official swimming, one would need to verify local rules, water quality, and lifeguard presence before doing so.
