*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The Dead Lake (also known as Zhuravlyne Lake) is located in the Skole district of Lviv Oblast, nestled in the mountains and surrounded by dense pine forest. It’s a small, dark-colored lake with a slightly swampy character caused by the presence of hydrogen sulfide in the water. Because of this, almost no fish live there, and the shoreline is partly boggy. The place feels peaceful and mysterious — more of a natural landmark than a swimming destination.
Water temperatures at Mertve Lake remain low even during midsummer. Situated at around 840–850 m above sea level, the water rarely warms above +15 to +18 °C, and on cooler or cloudy days it can be even lower. The upper layer may warm slightly under direct sunlight but cools quickly again. The water itself is clean and mineral-rich, but cold and not particularly comfortable for swimming.
Swimming here is generally not recommended. The lake is shallow, with a muddy bottom and soft spots that can make entry risky. In addition, the hydrogen sulfide content gives the water a specific smell and can cause mild irritation. Visitors usually come to enjoy the scenery, take photos, or relax in the peaceful forest surroundings rather than to bathe.
