*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Middle Cormorant Lake follows the seasonal temperature patterns typical of small to mid‑sized lakes in Minnesota. In spring, surface waters are cold as the lake mixes, generally ranging from about 40–60°F (4–15°C). During the summer months the surface commonly warms to roughly 68–78°F (20–26°C) on warm days, while deeper water remains noticeably cooler; many lakes stratify in midsummer so bottom temperatures can stay in the 40s–50s°F (4–12°C). In early fall the surface generally cools to about 50–65°F (10–18°C) before approaching near‑freezing conditions in winter. When the lake is ice‑covered the water near and beneath the ice will be close to 32–39°F (0–4°C).
Swimming is generally allowed from private shorelines and at public access sites, and the warmest, most comfortable opportunities occur in July and August when surface temperatures peak. As with any Minnesota lake, swimmers should observe local advisories for harmful algal blooms, bacterial contamination, or hazardous conditions, and be aware that deeper water and shaded areas remain cold even in summer. There are no statewide bans on recreational swimming, but beach safety, boat traffic, and ice‑safety rules should be followed to reduce risk.
