*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#Devon
Meldon Reservoir, on the edge of Dartmoor near Okehampton, is fed by upland streams and stays relatively cool year-round. Typical seasonal water temperatures range roughly from 4–7 °C (39–45 °F) in winter, 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) in spring, 14–20 °C (57–68 °F) in summer on warmer days, and 8–13 °C (46–55 °F) in autumn. Because the water is cold, deep and can have submerged hazards, and because the reservoir forms part of the local water management infrastructure, swimming is generally not permitted or is actively discouraged; signage and landowner guidance emphasize the risks of cold-water shock, hidden obstacles and impacts on water quality. Occasional wild swimmers may visit at their own risk, but official advice is to avoid entering the water.
Visitors who want to enjoy the area without swimming will find good walking and cycling routes, including the Granite Way, as well as the striking Meldon Viaduct and nearby Okehampton Castle. The surrounding moorland offers birdwatching, scenic viewpoints and easy access to Dartmoor National Park for further exploration.
