*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
#Cornwall
Crowdy Reservoir’s water tends to be cool year-round. In winter the surface commonly sits around 4–8 °C (39–46 °F), rising through spring to roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F). In most summers the reservoir warms to about 14–18 °C (57–64 °F), with occasional warm spells pushing parts of the surface toward 20 °C (68 °F). These figures are typical for a shallow upland reservoir in north Cornwall and can vary with weather, wind and depth; night-time temperatures and deeper water remain noticeably colder.
Open swimming at Crowdy is generally discouraged and, in practice, often not permitted by the site’s management because of safety risks, variable depths, submerged hazards and water-quality and operational concerns. Watersports such as sailing or canoeing may be allowed under supervision or as organised activities with permission. The area is valued for walking and birdwatching, and nearby attractions include Bodmin Moor’s open landscapes and the north Cornwall coast with its beaches and coastal paths, making the site a useful base for outdoor visits even if casual bathing is restricted.
