** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Aheru (Aheru järv) typically follows the seasonal temperature patterns of small Estonian lakes. In spring (April–May) surface temperatures commonly rise from about 2–12 °C (36–54 °F) as ice melts and the water stratifies. Summer (June–August) brings the warmest conditions, with typical surface temperatures around 15–23 °C (59–73 °F) in most years, though shallow bays can warm a few degrees higher during heat spells. In autumn (September–October) the water cools again to roughly 5–12 °C (41–54 °F) before winter freeze. During November–March the lake surface usually drops below 0 °C (32 °F) and freezes; under-ice temperatures remain around 0 °C while the deeper water can be slightly warmer.
Swimming in Lake Aheru is generally possible during the ice-free months when water temperatures are comfortable, and public access to natural waters in Estonia is commonly allowed. Whether it is sensible to swim depends on local water quality, signage and safety measures: avoid entering after heavy runoff or if algal blooms are present, and heed any official advisories. In winter the frozen lake is not safe for casual swimming unless at designated and maintained ice‑swimming spots with proper supervision and safety equipment; otherwise ice thickness and hypothermia risk make winter swimming unsafe.
