*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Morey’s water temperature varies predictably through the seasons because it is a relatively shallow New England lake. In winter the surface typically sits at or just above freezing, around 32°F (0°C) under ice cover. During spring the surface warms from roughly 36–60°F (2–16°C) as runoff and air temperatures rise. In summer the warmest conditions are usually seen, with surface temperatures commonly in the 68–75°F range (20–24°C) and occasionally climbing into the upper 70s°F (25–26°C) on hot, calm days; deeper water remains noticeably cooler. By autumn the lake cools again, with surface readings often falling from about 55°F down toward 40°F (13–4°C) as air temperatures drop and the lake mixes.
Swimming in Lake Morey is generally possible and is commonly practiced during the warm months at beaches and shorelines managed by local facilities and the nearby resort. Seasonal swimming is allowed because surface temperatures in summer reach comfortable ranges for recreational use and because designated access points are maintained for that purpose. In winter, open-water swimming is uncommon due to ice and near-freezing conditions, though some individuals engage in ice swimming under strict safety precautions. As with any natural waterbody, swimmers should observe posted advisories, local regulations, and safety recommendations.
