*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Saint Catherine in Vermont follows the typical seasonal pattern of a shallow temperate lake. In spring the surface usually ranges from the low 40s to mid 60s°F (about 5–18°C) as the lake warms after ice-out. During summer the water commonly sits between roughly 68 and 78°F (20–26°C), with occasional warm spells pushing pockets of surface water into the low 80s°F (around 27–28°C) on hot days. In fall the lake cools back through the 60s down to the 40s°F (15–5°C) as air temperatures drop, and in winter the surface falls to near freezing and often supports ice cover at or below 32°F (0°C).
Swimming is allowed at designated shoreline areas and the park beach during the warmer months because summer temperatures generally reach comfortable ranges and public facilities permit recreational use. Visitors should follow posted rules, observe water quality notices, and heed any lifeguard or park guidance where provided. Cold-water temperatures outside mid- to late-summer present hypothermia risks, and ice cover in winter makes bathing unsafe, so swimming is not recommended except when conditions and site regulations explicitly allow it.
