*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Pape (Papes ezers) is a shallow coastal lake in southwest Latvia whose water temperature follows the temperate Baltic seasonal cycle. In summer the surface typically warms to roughly 16–24 °C (61–75 °F) on sunny weeks, offering the warmest conditions for swimming. During spring temperatures generally rise from about 2–12 °C (36–54 °F) as the ice melts and the lake stratifies, while autumn sees a steady cooling to roughly 6–14 °C (43–57 °F). Winters are cold: the lake surface often approaches freezing and can be ice-covered for periods, with water temperatures around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) near the surface when unfrozen, and lower beneath any ice.
Swimming in Lake Pape is possible during the warmer months, but it is not the same as bathing at developed seaside resorts. The lake lies partly within the Pape Nature Park and some shoreline zones are protected to safeguard birdlife and wetland habitats, so access and recreational use can be regulated; visitors should observe local signs and rules. Water can be shallow, vegetated and sometimes chilly even in summer mornings, so caution is advisable. Lifeguard services and facilities are limited, so swimmers should judge conditions carefully and prefer sheltered, authorized spots for bathing.
