Lake Koronis, like other Central Minnesota lakes, shows pronounced seasonal swings in surface temperature. During late spring (April–May) surface water typically warms from about 40–60°F (4–16°C). By early summer (June) temperatures commonly reach 65–75°F (18–24°C), with peak summer (July–August) surface readings often in the 75–85°F range (24–29°C) on warm days. In autumn the surface cools back toward roughly 50–70°F (10–21°C) before the lake freezes; winter surface conditions hover around the freezing point, about 32°F (0°C), under ice cover and well below comfortable swimming temperatures.
Swimming in Lake Koronis is generally permitted in the open-water season at public access points and beaches, and many visitors swim there when summertime temperatures are in the 70s–80s °F (20s °C). Local parks and launch areas provide access, but actual swimming may be restricted temporarily for safety or health reasons: water-quality advisories for harmful algal blooms or elevated bacteria can close beaches, and ice cover in winter makes swimming unsafe. In short, summer conditions often support recreational swimming, while regulatory advisories and seasonal ice determine when it is allowed or advised against.
