*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Arthur, the reservoir at Moraine State Park in western Pennsylvania, experiences a strong seasonal cycle in water temperature. In winter the surface commonly hovers near freezing, roughly 33–40°F (0.5–4°C). Spring sees a steady rise as inflows and sun warm the shallows to about 40–60°F (4–16°C). Peak summer surface temperatures typically reach the upper 60s to upper 70s Fahrenheit, about 20–26°C, with occasional spots approaching 80°F (27°C) on warm, calm afternoons; deeper water remains noticeably cooler because of stratification. By autumn the surface cools back into the mid-40s to low-60s °F (7–16°C) as the lake mixes.
Swimming is permitted in and around Lake Arthur in many areas, but there are practical and safety considerations that shape where and when people choose to get in. Boat traffic, variable water clarity, sudden drop-offs and the absence of lifeguards in most spots mean that swimmers are often advised to use marked or managed beach areas and to heed any posted advisories for algae blooms or bacterial contamination. The warmest and most comfortable swimming conditions are generally in July and August, while spring and late-season water remain chilly enough to increase the risk of cold-shock and hypothermia.
