*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
The lake portion of Pymatuning Reservoir in Ohio is a relatively shallow, large body of water, which influences how quickly it warms and cools through the year. In winter the surface often hovers around freezing and can ice over, typically in the low 30s to upper 30s °F (0 to 4 °C). Spring brings a gradual rise, with surface temperatures commonly in the 40s to low 60s °F (4 to 16 °C) as the water mixes and warms. By summer the lake is at its warmest, frequently reaching the low 70s to upper 70s °F (21 to 26 °C) during July and August, though localized conditions can push parts slightly warmer or cooler. In fall temperatures decline back through the 50s and 60s °F (10 to 18 °C) before refreezing.
Swimming is permitted in designated beach and day-use areas of Pymatuning during the warmer months, primarily because park staff monitor those sites for safety, lifeguard coverage at times, and water quality. Access is limited or discouraged when the surface is too cold for safe swimming, when ice is present, or when health advisories or hazardous conditions such as harmful algal blooms or dangerous currents are posted. Visitors should use marked swim areas, heed posted rules, and check current beach status before entering the water.
