** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Meander Creek Reservoir, like many inland reservoirs in northeastern Ohio, shows pronounced seasonal variation in surface water temperature. In winter the surface typically hovers just above freezing, roughly 33–41°F (1–5°C). During spring it warms through approximately 41–64°F (5–18°C) as air temperatures rise and stratification begins. Peak summer surface temperatures are usually in the mid-60s to upper-70s Fahrenheit, commonly about 65–78°F (18–26°C), although brief heat waves can push the surface a few degrees higher. In autumn the lake cools back toward the spring range, often settling between 45–64°F (7–18°C) before winter turnover. Deeper water remains markedly cooler year-round, so temperature varies with depth and weather patterns.
Swimming at Meander Creek Reservoir is generally not permitted because the impoundment functions primarily as a public water supply and is managed to protect water quality and public health. Restrictions are intended to limit contamination risks and preserve source-water integrity; in addition, reservoir shorelines and underwater conditions can present hazards such as steep drop-offs, submerged structures, and cold-water shock from depth-stratified layers. While summer surface temperatures can be comfortable for bathing, visitors should respect posted regulations and choose designated public beaches or recreation areas elsewhere for safe swimming.
