*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lake Alūksne (Alūksnes ezers) is a typical temperate lake in northeastern Latvia and shows clear seasonal variation in water temperature. After ice melt in spring, surface temperatures usually range from about 1–12 °C (34–54 °F) as the water slowly warms. In summer the lake commonly warms to roughly 15–24 °C (59–75 °F), with average bathing-season values often near 18–22 °C (64–72 °F) and occasional warm spells pushing toward 24–25 °C (75–77 °F). By autumn the surface cools back toward 4–12 °C (39–54 °F), and in winter the lake is typically ice-covered with liquid water just under or near 0–1 °C (32–34 °F) beneath the ice.
Swimming at Lake Alūksne is generally permitted and popular during the warmer months, especially at public beaches and designated recreation spots where access is provided. Authorities or local signs may restrict bathing temporarily if water-quality tests detect contamination or cyanobacterial blooms, and swimming is unsafe when the lake is ice-covered. Cold-water or winter swimming is practiced by some groups, but it requires specific safety measures. Visitors should follow posted guidance, heed local warnings, and be aware that temperature stratification and sudden weather changes can affect comfort and safety in the water.
