Tsäpsi järv, sometimes referred to as Lake Järvemäe, is a small inland lake in Estonia that follows the typical seasonal temperature patterns of northern European shallow lakes. In spring, as ice melts, surface temperatures usually range from about 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) and can rise steadily through late May and June. Summer brings the warmest conditions, with surface waters commonly between 14–24 °C (57–75 °F) on average and occasionally a few degrees higher during heat spells. In autumn the lake cools back to roughly 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) before freezing, and during winter the water immediately below the ice remains near freezing, typically around 0–4 °C (32–39 °F).
Swimming in Tsäpsi järv is generally permitted and is a common recreational activity during the ice‑free months because the shoreline and public access make bathing feasible.
