*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lac Lavon Lake, located in Apple Valley, Minnesota, is a clear, spring-fed lake that offers a quiet and scenic retreat within the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The lake’s water temperature changes noticeably with the region’s continental climate. In early spring, as the ice melts, the water remains cold, averaging around 45–55°F (7–13°C). By mid-summer, surface temperatures typically rise to between 70 and 78°F (21–26°C), with shallow areas occasionally becoming slightly warmer on sunny days. In autumn, the cooling air gradually lowers the lake’s temperature to about 55°F (13°C), and by winter, it returns close to freezing, often forming a solid ice cover suitable for winter recreation.
Swimming is permitted and popular at Lac Lavon Lake, especially during the summer months when the water reaches comfortable temperatures. The lake features a maintained public beach area with sandy access, making it a convenient destination for families and local residents. Because the lake is relatively small and shallow in parts, it warms up quickly in late spring, allowing an early start to the swimming season. Water quality is generally good, and the calm, clean conditions make it appealing for both swimming and paddle sports. Most swimming activity occurs between June and August, when the lake is at its warmest.
