** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Kalterer See (Lago di Caldaro) is a shallow, lowland lake in Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol that is notable for its relatively warm water compared with other alpine lakes. Because it is shallow and sheltered, surface temperatures in summer commonly range from about 24–28 °C (75–82 °F) and can climb to 28–30 °C (82–86 °F) during heat waves. In spring and early autumn the water is cooler, typically around 10–18 °C (50–64 °F), while winter temperatures fall toward freezing, roughly 0–4 °C (32–39 °F), with only occasional surface ice. The lake’s shallow depth means it both warms up quickly in sunny weather and cools rapidly when the air temperature drops.
Swimming is permitted and popular, with public lidos and waterfront areas managed for bathing; local authorities routinely monitor water quality during the bathing season (generally late spring through early autumn). Because nutrient levels and warm conditions can sometimes promote algae or localized water-quality issues, temporary advisories or restrictions are issued when necessary, so swimmers should follow posted guidance. Lifeguards, marked swimming zones and facilities make recreational use straightforward, but conditions and temperatures vary by season and day, so basic caution is advised.
