** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Lago di Santa Giustina is a mountain reservoir in Trentino whose water is noticeably cooler than lowland lakes because it is fed by alpine streams and managed for hydroelectric use. Seasonal surface temperatures typically range from roughly 6–12 °C (43–54 °F) in spring, rising to around 12–18 °C (54–64 °F) in early summer and commonly reaching 18–24 °C (64–75 °F) in the warmest weeks of July and August. By autumn the surface cools back to about 10–16 °C (50–61 °F), while winter temperatures near the surface often sit low, around 2–6 °C (35–43 °F), depending on air temperature and inflow. Deeper water remains colder year-round, and sudden drops in temperature can occur near inflow points.
Swimming is generally possible but is best limited to designated bathing areas and supervised spots because parts of the reservoir are affected by strong currents, boat traffic and hydroelectric operations close to the dam. Local signage and municipal rules should be observed: some stretches may be closed for safety or water-management reasons. The lake’s good water quality and scenic setting make it attractive for bathing in summer, but swimmers should be prepared for cool conditions, avoid the dam zone, and take care with unpredictable temperature changes and underwater features.
