** Average - Average water temperature on this day in recent years
*** Forecast - Our water temperature forecast
Actual nearshore water temperatures may fluctuate by several degrees from the reported values, especially following heavy rainfall or extended periods of strong winds. Certain wind patterns can cause colder, deeper waters to rise and replace the sun-warmed surface water, leading to noticeable variations.
Our forecast is based on a proprietary mathematical model that considers real-time water temperature changes, historical trends, key weather patterns, wind strength and direction, and air temperature specific to each region. Additionally, we incorporate data from other resorts to enhance accuracy.

Location & Local Information
Durnholzer See (Italian: Lago di Valdurna) is a small alpine lake in Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol whose water temperatures reflect its mountain setting. Seasonal averages are typically low: in winter the lake commonly approaches freezing and can be at or just above 0–4 °C (32–39 °F) when not ice-covered. Spring brings a gradual rise, often into the 4–12 °C (39–54 °F) range. In summer, surface temperatures commonly reach about 12–20 °C (54–68 °F) and, during warm spells, may climb locally to 22–24 °C (72–75 °F) for short periods; by autumn the water cools again toward spring values. Local weather, altitude and depth make year-to-year variation significant.
Swimming in Durnholzer See is possible and is commonly practiced in the warmer months, but it is subject to local conditions and any rules that protect water quality or habitats. There are no universal prohibitions on bathing in mountain lakes of the region, yet some bodies of water are protected, privately managed or serve as reservoirs where entry is restricted. Even when allowed, swimmers should be cautious: the water can be much colder than the air, there are often no lifeguards, and sudden cold-water immersion can be hazardous. Visitors should check posted signs, local guidance on water quality, and prepare appropriate clothing such as a wetsuit for extended swims.
